RDS

Reithlingshoefer Design Studio was founded in Annapolis in 1980 by Donald Reithlingshoefer. RDS has completed land planning, architecture and interior design for many residential and commercial projects in and around Maryland and Virginia. The projects have varied from waterfront residential, new and renovated, renovation of historic buildings, mixed use projects, office buildings, restaurants, hotels, country clubs, yacht clubs as well as site planning for all of the above. RDS has extensive experience in lighting, millwork, exhibit and furniture design. Their approach to design is unique, blending beautiful and functional interiors with well designed and detailed buildings. Each design is crafted for the individual project with varying styles that suit the client’s needs and desired environment.

Donald Reithlingshoefer

Having grown up in Baltimore, he has had a life-long interest in the Chesapeake Bay, Baltimore and Annapolis communities as well as an interest in the urban, maritime and historic character of the architecture. In addition, he spent ten years as a principal designer in the Washington DC office of the California based firm, Berkus Group Architects, where he was responsible for the design, planning and construction of national and international commercial, residential and recreational building sites. This exposure to the combined urban and rural character of this region and the experience gained from working in a nationally recognized architectural firm has had a profound influence on his design work.

Lucy Reithlingshoefer

Lucy arrived in Annapolis in 1979 having graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her degree in American Studies with an emphasis on art history was the basis for an art consulting business in 1986. She joined the firm in 1990 and has blended interiors with a wide variety of architectural style in both commercial and residential projects.
